Wheels for Ukraine: 2019 Project

The CAAU / Global Mobility shipment to Lviv, Ukraine was loaded into a shipping container June 6 & sailed from Los Angeles a week later. It will arrive in Ukraine in time for a wheelchair distribution clinic scheduled for the first week of September.

In addition to 172 Wheelchairs, we loaded 120 therapy & mobility aids such as crutches, canes, walkers and shower chairs.

With the help of our partners in Ukraine (Initiative E+ and the International Alliance for Fraternal Assistance) we’ll conduct a one-week wheelchair distribution clinic. Though fitting people for standard wheelchairs is relatively quick and easy, we’ll also be distributing 35 complex wheelchairs to people with illnesses such as Cerebral Palsy and other neurologic disorders. The fitting of each of these chairs can take longer than an hour, even when done by our specially trained therapists and wheelchair technicians.

Though the ship has sailed, YOU CAN STILL HELP!

We need to raise more money to cover our expenses: $35,000 of our funds will allow us to deliver more than $250,000 of equipment (with the cost of each wheelchair being approximately $200).

Since our volunteers cover all their own expenses, every dollar donated is used to buy equipment & cover shipping costs. Make a donation today!
