Urgent Appeal: Humanitarian Aid for Maidan

A makeshift first aid station set up in a church.
In November 2013, a decision by the government of Ukraine to turn down an association agreement with the European Union sparked demonstrations in Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) in Kyiv that became known as ‘Maidan’ or ‘EuroMaidan’. While the demonstrations began peacefully, the heavy-handed government response resulted in violent clashes. Especially in recent days, the situation has escalated to a humanitarian crisis of deadly proportions.
CAAU has pledged at least $10,000 for humanitarian aid for the people on Maidan for medical assistance for the wounded and other basic needs. During the height of the crisis, makeshift first aid stations and hospitals have been set up in churches, hotel lobbies and other buildings. Recognizing the critical nature of the needs, CAAU has already forwarded the initial $10,000. Additional funds will be forwarded accordingly.
Your generous donation will help the wounded heal and show your support for the personal dignity and courage of the people of Ukraine.
